Mask Aadhaar Card Online — Hide the First 8 Digits

Mask your Aadhaar online before sharing a copy — the tool finds the number and blacks out the first 8 digits on your device, matching UIDAI's own masked-Aadhaar format. Nothing is uploaded: your ID never leaves your phone.

Detection runs entirely in your browser: the open-source OCR engine is fetched once from a CDN after you click, then cached — your Aadhaar itself never leaves this device. Auto-detect looks for a 12-digit number that passes UIDAI's own Verhoeff checksum, so phone numbers and reference numbers are not flagged, and blacks out the first 8 digits the way UIDAI's masked e-Aadhaar does.

Drag on the image to draw a black box. Drag a dashed box to move it, use its round corner handle to resize, and × to remove. Zoom the page itself (pinch or Ctrl +) for precise boxes on a phone.

Downloaded. Share the masked copy instead of the original — and keep the original off chat apps and email where you can.

The masks are burned into the pixels of the download — flattened into the image itself, so they cannot be selected, moved or undone by whoever receives it. PDF output is rebuilt from rasterised pages, so no hidden text layer can leak the number.

How to use this tool

  1. Drop a photo, scan or PDF of your Aadhaar card

The preview is prepared entirely on your device — the card is never uploaded anywhere.

  2. The tool auto-detects the number and masks the first 8 digits

Detection checks UIDAI's Verhoeff checksum so only a genuine Aadhaar number is flagged. Adjust the boxes, or drag one manually if detection misses — manual mode is always available.

  3. Download the masked copy and share that instead

The black boxes are burned into the pixels — flattened, not removable — so the copy you share only ever shows the last 4 digits.

Questions people ask

How do I mask my Aadhaar card online?

Drop the image or PDF here — detection and masking run on your device and you download a safe, masked copy. No account, no watermark, and manual masking works even without the auto-detect download.

What is a masked Aadhaar and is it valid?

It shows only the last 4 digits; UIDAI itself recommends sharing masked Aadhaar, though always confirm acceptance with the agency requesting it.

Is it safe to mask Aadhaar online?

Here, yes — your card is processed 100% on-device and never uploaded, which is exactly why we built it this way. The only network activity is the one-time OCR engine download, which contains nothing of yours.

Which digits are hidden?

The first 8; only the last 4 remain visible, matching the masked e-Aadhaar UIDAI issues.

What if the tool misses my number?

Use manual mode — drag a box over anything you want blacked out; the mask is burned into the pixels either way. OCR can miss on glare or blur, which is why the manual boxes are always right there, not hidden behind the auto path.

Should I also hide the QR code?

The QR encodes your details, so masking it is wise when the receiver doesn't need it — tick the QR option and drag the box over the code.

Can I mask Aadhaar in a PDF?

Yes — every page is processed, and the output PDF is rebuilt from flattened page images so no hidden text layer can leak the number.
